Does anyone know of a convertor from Atrac to MP3?

I have about 1000 tracks in Sonic Stage in Atrac format and the rest in MP3. Does anyone know of a legal way of transferring them to MP3? I am sure I had a program before but I had to reformat my PC recently and I can't remember how I did it before.

Sonicstage3.03 has a utility called file conversion tool but i haven't used it so don't know if it will convert to mp3 but suspect it will as it is convert old sonicstage files (openmg/atrac) to the new version. Previous versions of sonicstage would only rip to atrac/omg but current sonicstage will rip to mp3.

Thanks Faz but the file conversion tool is for coverting old SS files to a newer version, unfortunately it doesn't convert to MP3.

Be aware that converting from one lossy format to another will likely make the resulting mp3 sound awful - if you have the original CDs then it'd be better to rerip them straight to mp3 if you can.

re the original question - I don't think you can convert them anyway without first burning to CD as atrac files are usually 'copy protected'.

Thanks for that, I do have the cd's I was just hoping to save time by converting rather than re-ripping. My MP3 player will play both but I have an MP3 cd player in the car and I was hoping to carry less cd's around.
