Coldseal windows....advice needed please.

About 18 months or so ago I paid just over £5000 for double glazing from Coldseal. Not long afterwards the company went through the hoop. I am having some problems with my back door, not shutting properly unless you whack the handle back up as hard as you can to be able to lock the door. French doors have dropped and the seal is coming away from another window. Does anyone know of a way in which I can get anything done. Coldseal have gone, so who should I contact to rectify the problems. I have the 10 year Fensa
certificate but is it worth the paper it's written on?

Your FENSA certificate is nothing to do with the guarantee of the windows. It is only a statement that your windows comply with part L of the building regulations. You will need to show this if you sell your house.
What guarantee did you get with the windows? Was it only from the company, or was it an insurance backed guarantee? It doesn't sound like it. Unless Coldseal have been taken over by another company that will honour previous guarantees, it looks like you will have to get another company in to do the repairs. You will of course have to pay for this. Could you check out your house insurance? Give them a call and see if you can claim off them for the cost.
Apart from this, it looks like you are stuffed for extra expense. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Seeing what you have said there reminds me of the reason I chose Coldseal. They had an insurance scheme underwritten by Norwich Union. However I can't remember the exact details, if it was for security purposes or general. I'll have to dig that out and read the fine print.

http://www.fensa.co.uk/faq.html#11 :A Registered Business must also give a guarantee or warranty covering the cost of completing rectification work in respect of defects and in the event of ceasing to trade, offer to back this guarantee with an independent insurance policy.
If you paid by a credit card or used some other credit to pay, than you can probably claim something from a credit company under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act ...0
