Hi
I woke up this morning with the most awful sense of doom and gloom:eek: it was like a moment of clarity hit me and I could see the awful mess that me and OH are in...is that my lightbulb moment???
I have lurked on here for a few months gleaning info and taking note of answers to other folks problems and now realise that before 2008 is out we need to get ourselves sorted financially and stop living in cloud cuckoo land and stare reality in the face.
 I should have sorted all this out months ago but we have just been digging ourselves into a massive black hole, pretending everything was alright when it isnt but having taken stock of the situation it doesnt make pleasant reading or facing up to.
The incessant phone calls and collection of threatening letters are making us both ill, short tempered with each other and no amount of pretending is going to make it all go away....its time to face reality so Im Sadie hi can I join you and pick your brains and experiences of BR and ask for your help to guide us through what is going to be one damned helluva hard journey in enlightenment of our debt situation, so if in the next few days I post some daft questions please bear with me....I need a plan of action...so could you tell me the first step in my BR journey to sanity and peace of mind
Many thanks
Sadie:o

hello sadie congratulations on dealing with your debts and welcome to the forum. dont worry if you think your asking daft questions, if youve been on here a few days you would have seen my name pop up with random silly questions.
first of all you need to contact a debt helpline ie CCCS, CAB the numbers are in the sticky threads at the top and go through your options. be prepared for a wait on the phones as its very busy at the moment
at the moment im pre br, my date is 18 dec but there are alot of expert people on here that have gone through the whole process.
any question no matter how small ask away

Hi Sadie
Welcome & well done on the `lightbulb moment`....I remember mine & was very scary!!
If you`ve been lurking you probably `know` most of us already !
First step...get a pen & blank sheet of paper , a large cuppa & get phoning the debt charities. They are busy so be aware...also check out the Ned Cab site (they post on here also) where there is a very good debt help section.

Hope that helps...let us know how you go on.

Lisa, sorry to hear about flops..x0

hi SSA think flops was a casulty of the cold going out today to get some bunny hats, scarfs and gloves. poor littlle bunny i only got him last week along with 3 others. saved them from becoming food for ferrits (my mate bought them for hes ferrits, left them at mine for the night and ive nicked them) but flops was very tame and used to come say hello and let me stroke him, the others look like they will chew my arm off if i go near them. i think i need to sit down and tell them all about how ive saved them from the jaws of death. they may start to like me and not look at my as food lol
theres 2 dwalf rabbits that was destined for ferrits (ginger and tiny)
1 big one that was destined for the pot (brighteyes)If you want to see the rainbow ,you gotta put up with some rain0 -

...there are so many wild rabbits round here & there is a large hawk that dives down & picks the baby rabbits off one by one...thats nature!!
I would be wary of keeping the others if they are aggressive though!!
Sorry Sadie for hijacking your thread....you`ll get used to us!!!:D0 -
na their not aggressive but where theve come from a bunny farm i think their not used to human contact. they just run away from me. ive converted my shed into a giant rabbit hutch. im abit of a soft spot for waifs and strays, i couldnt feed them for the night then send them to their death. my friend wasnt to happy about me keeping them but thats what you call tuff.
yeah sorry sadie for hijacking:DIf you want to see the rainbow ,you gotta put up with some rain0 -
Hi sadie and welcome
Ask away on any questions thats what we are here for;) As lisa said before she went off on a tangent:D getting advise from cab,NDL or CCCS reall is your first port of call. The judge will ask if you have taken advice on the day you petiton and has been known to refuse(rare) if none has been taken. There are two numbers in my sig if you need them.
Another thing you could do is ring your local court that deal with bc and see what system they operate. As some you need to make an appointment for and as you can imagine there can be a lengthy wait.
You might also like to have a look at the forms(SOA) that you each(if you and OH are both going bc)will need to fill in. Here is the link https://www.insolvencydirect.gov.uk/isolv/
I think thats enough for the time being. Come bac when you have take advice and we will guide you through the whole process step by step.Good luck with that call.DxFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

Hi Sadie,
I would suggest that if your working and paying tax or if you get any means tested benefits ie Housing Benefit you would be better off going for bankruptcy as close to the end of the tax year as possible (Feb/march). This would save you the hassle of a zero taxcode which can cause all sorts of headaches!!!
To Lisa,
Sorry to hear about flops - we too have a bunny called flopsy, she's a housebunny though, and is totally nuts- can't decide if it's a rabbit thing or living in my house thats driven her wacky!!!!! Best of luck with your other buns!!!

i went bc end nov and although the tax office wrote to me(end jan) the ntc never got applied. I think anytime from now till march you will find they won't bother applying it.DxFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau
