Help needed in using Oyster card at Harrow & Wealdstone Rail Station
Won't I get charged twice on the way back from Berkhamsted as I'll have to swipe out and then in again at Watford? This has just accord to me after rereading antsnest's post.
Get a train to Willesden Junction - change there for Watford
Swipe out at Watford Oyster single fare £3.50 peak, £1.50 off peak.
Buy an offpeak day return to Berkhamstead - £5 -and get the next train on - they run at least every 15 minutes. Do NOT swipe your Oyster. If it's before 9am it's a little more expensive. If you are not returning the same day you'll need a single for each day - about £5
Coming back get off at Watford. Go though the barriers using your ticket from Berkhamstead and go straight back in again swiping your Oyster - once only - when you reenter the station
Swipe out when you get to Richmond Oyster single fare £3.50 peak, £1.50 off peak
Off peak, returning same day it's £8 total
To reinterate, between Watford and Berkhamstead you are not using the Oyster.
:doh:I was thinking in Oyster mode. I keep going over this in my head as it's getting nearer to Christmas eve you see.
I checked National Rail Enquiries and found that Watford is the best stop to do this and noticed, as you've pointed out, that trains run at least every 15 minutes. This should give sufficient time.
I'm aware of the changes I'll have to make on this journey, I was thinking more about the ticket business, or should I say I wasn't thinking about the ticket business.
