Dropping Honours, who do I need to inform?

Options
Due to work pressures, I have had to drop my Honours year and will now only be resitting one exam in January, so that I at least graduate with an Ordinary Degree.

I don't need to attend any lessons and ive been told that I will be left on the register in order to process my Ordinary Degree more quickly than if I officially leave.

I took out the maximum student loan (about £3000) and had one instalment in September and normally would get another in January, but I presume that I should now stop this payment happening.

Am I correct?

Comments

  • Presumably if you'll still be registered the loan should still be valid and the payment will come through as normal. If I were you I'd contact the SLC or your LEA for advice.
  • In your final year the amount you're entitled to is a few hundred pounds less as they don't give you a summer holiday allowance. If you're finishing Uni early you must tell the Students Loan Company, even if you didn't request your full loan entitlement. This is because it affects the tax year when your repayments will be due to start.
