Quickest way to convert 10K+ of £ into euros?

I need to open a euro bank account somewhere, now. I don't have time to send off forms and ID and wait to hear back from them. I need to be able to go into a branch, within london, with my ID and open a euro account straight away. Where can I do this? Sterling is falling too quickly, I don't have time to wait. I also need to open a foreign exchange account (hifx, moneycorp etc) immediately, in person.

Have you contacted the money exchange services with which you have registered? They generally will do a forward contract for you, where you pay them a small deposit in pounds and they fix the exchange rate now, but the actual transfer happens at a future date. This will allow you plenty of time to open an account.

Look at http://www.crowncurrencyexchange.com/ for examples of future rates. (This is a small-value cash service, but they have a linked service for larger transactions).

Note that it is not guaranteed that the pound will continue to fall against the euro. It could be that this is the lowest it will get, and the pound may start to rise. In that case, you will be locked into your forward contract at a poor rate.
