I have broadband with V21 and should get at least 2MB. My connections status always says 2.3MB but my speed actually varies and it can be slow. I want to check my actual speed. Does anyone know how please?
Many Thanks

There is also a very good speedtest to check out your broadband through a BT phone line. They have an official BT speedtest that will check your line by cutting out your ISP. If you have any speed problems, this is a good way of seeing if the problems are due to contention on the BT network or problems with your internet provider. If the BT speedtest is as slow as the one at adslguide. The problems will likely be contention at your local exchange (too many users on at once). If the BT speedtest is fast, and the adslguide one slow, this will point to problems with your ISP.
Here's how to use the test..................
Go to your modem or router. Log out of your broadband (make sure you remember your login details). Reconnect to broadband using these details....
Username: speedtest@speedtest_domain
Password: (leave blank)
When you connect to this network. Open your browser (your homepage or any normal web pages wont load) and go to the page http://speedtester.bt.com/ (copy this address in the address bar) You will be prompted for your phone number. Enter this and click Go. This test will show you how your broadband is performing on the BT network before it gets to your ISP. You can do this test only once every 30 minutes.
Once you have finished the test. You need to go back to your modem/router and enter your login details for your normal ISP.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
