Amazon Marketplace.

Options
Hi Everyone!

First time poster, just wanting a bit of a rant and a bit of advice.

I started selling lots of my DVD's and Books to raise some extra cash. I decided the best place to do this is Marketplace, and apart from Amazon's percentage, it seemed the most hassle free way of doing it.

They give you £0.70 (ish) to post an item, which is fine, but not enough if a customer wanted proof of delivery. No one emailed me to ask for proof of delivery, so I sent everything first class unrecorded.

Big Mistake.

Since then apparently 2 items have not been received despite me having proof of them being sent by my local Post Office. So apparently as long as their is no proof of them being delivered, Amazon will automatically refund the buyer out of the seller's account.

Anyway, I have begrudgingly accepted this, but just wanted to know is their anyway to completely cancel your Amazon account, and for them to stop sending me emails, and other accounts.

I have tried emailing them, but they seem to ignore me. I don't forget to add recorded delivery if you do you Amazon!

  • If you had paid for recorded your item would have been insured.

I can't see how this is Amazons fault. They are protecting their buyer, you could have protected yourself by using a signed for service.

Get a certificate of posting. They're free, and while they don't guarantee delivery, it's enough for you to claim back from the Royal Mail if the item doesn't turn up.

As for recorded delivery, it's useful if the postman gets it signed for. But some posties, mine included, tend to just shove stuff through the door without getting a signature.

Claim back what? Royal Mail are hard enough to get compensation from when an insured item goes missing, surely a slip that doesn't prove either way whether it was delivered doesn't hold much weight?
