One section of my wardrobe - the bottom is crammed full of "stuff" and the top is crammed full of art stuff I haven't used in 2 years :o In the middle my coats just about fit in :o

Thankfully it is divided off so the "stuff" can't creep into my main wardrobe!
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • Mine is always my bedroom... wherever I've lived, I'll keep all the "communal areas" lovely and tidy, but my bedroom is a proper nest (or dumping ground).

Actually it's particularly awful at the moment - my ex-lodger lost the pole out of my wardrobe (don't ask) so all my clothes have just been piled up the floor... and it smells like the cat has weed somewhere in it

I'll be doing laundry from now until Christmas, and the cat can live outside...

Perhaps it's a residual rebellion from my teenage years? "no, I won't tidy my bedroom!"

Yes and it is on display in the lounge! I have what is variously known as a mariners chest or an apothecary's chest. In other words a huge chest of drawers with 17 drawers in it of varying sizes. If I have to do a quick tidy up everything goes in the drawers and gets shut. One tidy room. Trouble is if you open them........
Also have the ones aforementioned - the cupboard under the stairs, the loft, the spare bedroom etc..............

  • I'm feeling just a tad embarrassed.I have to admit ALL my cupboards are very tidy.I have always been obsessively tidy,I just can't help it.
When I was at school we were told in domestic science to remember that everything should have a place and if everything is returned to that place after use, life will be so much easier.I guess I kind of took that to heart as an 11 year old and never forgotton it.
My name on here MrsTittlemouse is what my 18 year old granddaughter has always called me from when she could talk.I used to read her Beatrix Potter stories and when we first read the Mrs Tittlemouse story and it said how she cleaned and tidied my darling little two and a half year old granddaughter looked at me and said Grandma, that's you. It's stuck ever since.
I don't know whether being so tidy is a blessing or an obsession,I just know I can't leave anything where it should'nt be.If it does'nt get used it goes in the loft and even that's tidy.Sad are'nt I.

I must admit that my house is usually looking good but the garage is a no go zone!! If you attempt to go in there you could be lost for days!

I'm the same, and pretty uptight about it. There's some days I just take a bin bag and head to the wardrobe, fill it up and take it to the charity shop.... even if there was nothing really in there to get rid of!!

If something in this house isn't used for more than a few months, it goes to a home where it will be used.

My upstairs neighbour envies me this, but I envy her laid back approach, where she can sit, relax and not think about what needs cleaning or tidying.

I don't have a garage, and I only have one built-in cupboard (which is the airing cupboard).

    HOWEVER...

When I moved in, 2 years ago, I had one large cardboard box labelled "odds and ends". Not only has it never been unpacked, but I think it's been breeding - now I have at least three, and the same again of important but unfiled paperwork...

The bungalow is pretty tidy, really, with the spare room being used as extra storage for supplies I've got in for the winter.

HOWEVER I suspect that the loft is like the corporation tip. I can't get up there to sort it out, and I'm afraid Mr LW isn't the tidiest person in the world. I'm going to have to insist he does something about it, as I wanted to refer to an old issue of Pagan Dawn magazine which I know is stored up there the other day, and he couldn't find the box with my old mags in.

I have one of those cupboards, but it's actually my spare room!!!

Me too Hester, everything I can't immediately find a home for gets dumped in my smallest bedroom :rotfl:

My garage is another disaster zone, there is so much stuff in there that I can hardly get through the door.Apart from all my rubbish, there are a load of boxes that my DD left here when she moved abroad and that was nearly 3 years ago  It is far too cold to even think about tidying it at the moment, but I shall have to hire a skip when the weather gets warmer and have a clear out. There is nothing in there worth keeping,so why did I keep it then

I wish I had a minimalistic home but I have always been a bit of a hoarder.Perhaps that should be my New Years resolution....don't hoard rubbish :rotfl:
