central heating - no expansion pipe

Anybody have any ideas ???
I've just been up in the loft to bung the feed and the expansion pipe in the tank for the central heating. This was in order to change a radiator and valves.
There is the normal cold water storage cistern for the domestic hot and cold water, and hot water cylinder with expansion pipe up and over into the tank.
Then there's the smaller, feed and expansion tank. This has feed inlet, and then the feed to the central heating, it has the overflow pipe to the outside of the building.....but no expansion pipe ?!?!?!!!
From what i know, this expansion pipe should be there for venting when filling the system, and also for the expansion of the hot water.
Does anybody know why this may not be there , or what there should be in place for this ?!!!

Hi
Whoever fitted it assumed it would do the job.
It should loop over the tank in 22mm and either be direct from the boiler with no valves or fittings that could block the pipe, or from the pipework somewhere around the pump. Some boiler instructions will allow a combined cold feed and open vent.
Look up your boilers installation instructions on the web, if you don't have a paper copy, and it will give you the requirements.
