2 Days Over The Warrenty

hi everyone,
problem for me this week.
my peugeot 607 broke down on the 9th december 2008, the aa found the fuel pump not to be working so i had it toed to the peugeot garage where 7th december 2007 the pump had been changed previously.
with the pump being 2 days over the 12 month warrenty on new parts peugeot wouldnt change the pump without me paying for a new one, under protest i had it replaced but need to try and take this as far as i can because a £300 bill for a part i had changed the year before just isnt good enough.
if anyone has had previous experience of this sort of thing and would like to give advice that would be great.
why should we let them get away with bad service or products

  • You've been incredibly unlucky, or something else is causing the fault and the fuel pump is fine, or something is causing the fuel pump to fail.

Have you considered speaking to the dealer principal and reminding him/her that such poor service will not see you return?
  • Ring pug customer services and explain the situation. They might either pay for it or contribute to it as a goodwill gesture.

2days is not a long time out of warrenty, and most 'decent' dealerships will say it's part of an ongoing fault from during the warrenty period so can still claim it. Your dealer is being very pedantic, not very festive at this generous time of year!

  • i agree with all of you. i have the number of head office in coventry and will call them. the dealership i went to told me that they spoke to them but was not willing to budge on a refund or even a % off.
shame its been a good car! just wondered if anybody had gone through the samw sort of thing and came out the other side with a result.

  • is it a bosch pump?
  • How old is the vehicle? It's not really relevant. Just curious. Is it diesel?

We have had a lot of hassle of late with fuel pumps... conclusion so far, seems to be getting diesel from different places and the additives that are in say Tesco diesel don't mix with diesel from elsewhere etc. Pumps and filters are getting blocked with - well, one can only describe it as black slime - yuk!
