School Polo Shirts?

I need to replace the kids white polos before next term - the Adams ones we got at the start of the year have let us down - lots of shrinkage and bobbling when we've never had it before with them. I replaced them with some cheap ones from Instore, and whilst they have actually faired better in wash terms, the seam allowances are so small many are coming undone - again not something we'd had before with them.

We've had Mothercare and Next in past years, and wondered what anyone's experiences of either are recently.

Mothercare's are cheaper at the moment, especially with the token in todays Mail, but if quality is lesser to Next at the moment, I'd rather spend that extra and get the Next ones, or someone elses if they are better right now.

Don't want to be doing this again come Easter (can't really afford to), so any help would be appreciated.

I buy cheap and cheerful from Tesco or Asda, always lasted until they're grown out of, might just be luck though. At least they're super-cheap if they do shrink or disintegrate.
    Anytime;)

I always get Asda and they hhave been fine (and incredibly cheap) sometimes the hem is a bit uneven or wavy but they tuck it in so no one sees it anyway. I have only ever needed to replace once a year in september. :D
now has her .com delivery but doesnt know where to put it :o
  • I use Tesco also, cheap and you get lots of wear out of them.

I buy Marks and Spencer for the older child and hand down to youngest. Quality exceptional and wash up very well . Think they are currently 3 for £4 at the moment.

Dare I say this but..... Woolworths?

Other one to consider is Ethel Austin if they have any left. Cheap and cheerful but seem OK.

I got some from Mothercare in September but also some proper school logo ones so we haven't actually tried out the Mothercare ones yet.

Another vote for the M&S ones, still look as new (worn since september). I tend to stock up when they do the 3 for 2 on uniform in the summer as they're fab value then!

I would pass them down from eldest to middle one BUT they both need the same size lol!
    Slightly worn out mum to 3 (DS1 May 03, DS2 Feb 05, DD1 Feb 08). When i grow up i think i'll become a UN Peace keeper....

Ive been really disappointed by chainstore - M&S, Tesco and Asda polos, they all shrink really badly. DS age 6 is now in age 9-10 tesco polo shirts.they also always get stains that wont come out even with bleach- maybe just my mucky kids though! I have to chuck them away after a term or two due to grubbiness if not shrinkage. not very eco friendly but what can you do? the school uniform ones were £8 each and cant be bleached due to the logo so have been binned!
  • We've had good ones from Sainsburys

My Sainsbury's ones have worn well so far. They wash well and you can get away without ironing them. Although DS wears light blue shirts and they are slightly darker than anywhere else.
