Small Corsa issue

It's nothing major, more annoying than anything. I bought a 2000 W reg Corsa yesterday off a friend, he knew of the problem when he bought it himself a few years back but didn't see it as a problem.

Ok right, basically when happens is that when the keys are in the ignition my radio will turn on, save all the preset channels I save and will do so until I turn off the car and take the keys out the ignition, then when I come back to putting my keys in the ignition the next time my stereo has lost all the stations I saved and have to do it all over again.

I know its silly, but it's more annoying than anything, any ideas anyone?

Most likely two wires need swapping on the stereo (think it's yellow and red but don't quote me on that) - or a fuse is blown.
  • i had this years ago on a nova,i wasnt keeping the car long so i never bothered with it.
but it may have the ignition and constant live feeds the wrong way round. or it may not have the constant live wired up. im guessing its an after market stereo?
    ...work permit granted!
  • Cheer's, will have a look at the wiring tomorrow see if its anything there, and unless it is a fuse on the car's fusebox then I don't thing it will be the fuse on the stereo as it is a new stereo.

Yeah as it's a new stereo it will need the wires swapping on the loom then. There'll probably be bullet connectors to allow you to change them over easily. I think it's the red and yellow wires.

Correct. It's the "constant 12V feed" that's in the wrong place. It's usually the yellow wire.
  • Thanks to the above, it was the constant feed and after swapping the wire over it now works as it should, many thanks.
