Ah, I see, thank you:beer: I get £50.55 CA, and £20.31 IS and I really struggle.

Do you actually want to know that his IB is more than the relevant IS rate, or are you just going to assume?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • It's worth noting that once you receive DLA it can push up your entitlement to other benefits. Initially I only received IB so i had to pay for prescriptions. However, once i claimed dla I was also entitled to an extra £45 per week income support and my housing benefit and council tax benefit also increased to cover the full amounts. However, THEY DON'T TELL YOU THIS. If it hadn't been for a friend mentioning that he now had IS i wouldn't have reapplied for it. I now receive IB,IS,DLA,CT,HB which adds up to around £1,200 per month.

You get Income Support and Incapacity Benefit? How does that work?

  • I originally received Incapacity Benefit, however I didn't receive full HB and CT benefit so still had to pay some rent each week. Once my DLA claim started I qualified for the severe disablement premium which pushed my allowances up. That meant that my IB wasn't enough on its own for the personal allowance so they topped it up with IS. It's made a massive difference to how i manage financially.
I can't remember the exact amounts but roughly speaking I get £200 per fortnight IB, £95 per fortnight IS, £335 per month DLA, plus all my rent and council tax covered. I also get free prescriptions and a bus pass.
Its really worth phoning them up to see if you can get IS.
