I already have MacAfee installed on my computer and as far as I can see all the programs and security is all protected but Antivirus 2009 keeps popping up and saying that it has found 40 virus and that an unknown malware is spying on my files etc.
It basically wants me to buy the product or so I think it does so how can I get rid of this as it is pretty scary when it keeps telling me some critical programs have been fixed by a malicious malware (which I think it is my MacAfee working )
Is there a free spysweeper that I can run alongside my MacAfee that will stop this or is it that it is a virus attempting to invade my computer?
Thank any advice appreciated but please do not bombard me with too much info as I am not really Techi minded

This should get rid of it:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Download, install, update and scan.
SuperAntiSpyware is also pretty good too.0 -
Thanks for the quick reply Marty J but I have tried both of them link ( a couple of times but it say's "internet explorer cannot display the webpage)
Is there another link to them or is there something else I can dobecame debt free December 060 -
Combofix

Malwarebytes also. (but not concurrently)
Make sure internet is disconnected while your running these programs !!!0 -

It would also be worth having a think about how you got the infection. The most common way seems to be downloading and installing what purports to be a codec pack.
If you (or another user of the PC) did not do something like that, it may be that your browser security level is too low. The general consensus seems to be that - for Windows users - a combination of Mozilla Firefox and the NoScript plugin is much more secure than Internet Explorer is ever likely to be.0 -

my DD noticed this running a scan and instantly stopped it, I ran MBytes and quaranteened some MP3 files. At the end MB showed no problems as did Spybot and CCleaner. Is it likely she will have it hidden elsewhere waiting to surface?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Use Combo Fix http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix as suggested already. Make sure to disable Mcafee while it running as it can interfere with the scan.0

Does that apply to avira as well?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
