in Credit cards
Sorry if this has been repeated, and with hindsight I am sure it has already been suggested by Martin and many other MSE's as good advice.
I had the Abbey Zero 6 months interest free credit card (with no transfer fee) which expired yesterday. I couldn't find anyone else that was offering interest free balance transfer without a fee, so I swopped to the next best cheapest, Virgin (at that time).
I contacted Abbey today to cancel my card as I had transferred the balance to Virgin to be told by the Retentions Department that they would have offered me another 6 months interest free!!!
I wished I had approached them first and saved myself the fee, but hopefully someone else will benefit from my omission?
Good Luck and Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to all.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ..... wow what a Ride!

If you, or a family member/spouse have another balance elsewhere call their bluff and see if the offer is available then.0 -

My 6 months is due to expire in about 3 weeks. I rang them a few days ago (3 times) to test the water for another 0%. All three times I was told that it wouldn't be possible at this time, though I could try again in a couple of months !! Don't kick yourself as I don't think you would have got it.0 -
I will let you know as mine is due before xmas, and I will be ringing them to cancel and pay off the balance. See if they were telling you the truth then
My balance is sitting in my savings account, so I have no problems calling their bluff.
Cheers, Des.0
