Only way of knowing is trying or opening the socket and looking
What I meant was that it's common for the cable to be installed and wired to the socket but the other end of the cable is left coiled up in the loft and not actually connected to anything e.g. aerial distribution amplifier etc. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Cheers - living room must be male to female and thus why it is different - i had a male to male lying around so will check it out - although need a 10m cable0

Ok so plugged in a fly lead today and did nothing
tried a portable aerial and got some sort of picture but c*ap signal to be honest. can this be improved via a different aerial or should I try and wire it up (or get someone to do it) Is it easy to do?0 -
I don't think your skill level is up to much at the moment, so if if means going onto the roof top I suggest you leave it to someone else...0

Sounds as if your wall socket isn't connected to an aerial. Where does its cable go to?0
