How much does your vet charge to write a prescription?

I need to get a prescription for one of my cats renewed and was just wondering how much vets charge now for writing the prescription? Do they charge if you take your pet in for a check up or is the prescription writing then part of the visit?
I know how much my vet charges, but was just curious to see what others charge

Mine told me around about the £11 mark, but I'm not sure if that was because I needed flea treatment for 2 cats.
I consider that a bit steep, and it wouldn't have left me with much of a saving. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Until a couple of months ago, I don't think my vet charged anything - a notice has gone up in the waiting room saying that there is now a charge of £6.50, but I don't know if this is per item or per prescription.0

Many RSPCA rehoming centres are doing flea, worming and basic medication at good rates with no fees.0

We aren't currently charging anything and have no plans to introduce a charge at this stage. There are various recommendations about charging based on time using an average of 5 minutes to review a case, type the prescription, print and sign. Based on 10 minutes consultations, this puts the cost at half a consult fee.0

I think that's just about what my vet's charge for writing a prescription works out at.0 -
To be honest, I prefer to know that my pet was properly cared for than worry about the cost of the prescription, which in reality should be pounds. A good vet is worth his weight in gold I believe.0

While I agree and I'm sure the great majority of MSE'ers also do about the care for your pet..... this is a moneysaving site and most people here are very interested in providing great care at the very best price....not always the cheapest price btw but the best value;)
