Hello, I am looking for a cheap digital camera for my Dad who is not technically minded! Just a simple point and shoot one, no need for fancy frills. Does anyone have any advice or know of any great offers at the moment on cameras? Thanks for any advice.

Currently jessops have a 10% sale on compact digital cameras, you should be able to pick something reasonable up for less than £50. Use Quidco and get an additional 5% off.
Stock to brands like Samsung or Fuji or Canon. They will all be quality products.
Hope this helps.Keep smiling,

BOOTS have some on offer, also ARGOS. Make sure you check the reviews and check on price comparison sites to see if you can get it cheaper elsewhere ... like froogle UK.
HTHI can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....How do you know I ain't sitting here butt naked?!?!I thunk I've made you think for a minute!:j :rotfl: :j0 -
I'm after something (I suppose) similar. My mum is going on safari next year and would really like a good camera to take pictures of the animals and scenery. We either have a budget of £50 ish or £150/200 ish (depending on whether my dad or my nan buys it!)
She has been on safari before and says she would need features like anti shake, a good zoom and a decent amount of pixels.
I was looking at this one
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-H50-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B0018C1EXQ/ref=sr_1_38?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1228998900&sr=1-38
for the higher budget but have no idea if it's any good? And also have no idea for one for the lower budget. I literally know nothing about cameras so would appreciate any advice.

That would certainly do the job. Fuji make some very nice bridge cameras too. Tell your Dad to forget about the number of pixels though. Unless he's doing lots of heavy cropping, it doesn't really make any difference.0 -
Great thanks, yes my budget is also about £50. I have a £150 one but just want a simple one for my Dad! Will have a look around the High Street tomorrow.0

I do like the look of the D860, though I have just been on the phone to the family and now they have added another requirement, that is the camera should power on and be able to take a photo quickly.
I'm sorry to hijack your thread a bit but as we are pretty much looking for a similar thing, i didnt want to start a new one!0
