Foreign Currency Accounts in the UK.

I would like to Bank some Euro and USDs but my local HSBC branch wants me to open an Offshore Account to do this - sounds a bit of too much work and I'd really much rather walk into my local bank and or login into my account and see all the currencies in one screen - What bank can facilitate me?

Also, what's the best place to convert forex? (most importantly USD - either Euros or GBP?)

Citibank have Euro and USD accounts, and I believe you can manage them all online. They charge you fees, though, unless you have a total of £2K (or equivalent) in your Citibank accounts (can be any of their UK accounts).

You don't give much detail about your needs - if it is to transfer and/or receive funds in other currencies, you might find Moneybookers a suitable means.

Thanks for the info - sometimes I think I have outgrown my local HSBC branch, I still keep them cause it's safer than keeping the money at my house but they are so not accomadating anything slightly out of the ordinary (like these forex accounts) - will definately look at Citibank.

My needs essentially are that I have a sum of USD that I don't really know what to do with - I visit the Europe and the USa quite a bit therefore the need of Forex, but spend most my life here in the UK therefore wanting to convert some of the USD into GBP.

Banks always are rip off for Forex rates that's why I asked about what's the best way to convert the USD into GBP & Euros.
