My boss told me yesterday i am going to be made redundant. I am scared, i have bills and debt to pay. I will be paid until the end of Feb, so i do have a couple of months to find a job. However i am such a worrier, i haven't eaten since i found out. I have a 13 month old, a partner who works but his wages won't cover all the bills and debt. I was wondering if ne one had any much needed advice on what i can do?
Thanks xx

No advice apart from making sure that your CV is updated and sent to as many agencies as possible. No time is a good time, but when we have debts and near Christmas is a particularly hard time to be laided off, but wishing you all success in securing another job quickly.

Smartie sorry to hear your news. Please list your SOA so that we can see what you owe and see where you can cut back in the meantime. https://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html - there is a button on it called MSE so that you can format it to MSE and copy and paste it here.
Go and register yourself with various agencies for temporary work - you may even find some permanent work that way. Get all the help that you can from your employer as they have to help you find work and allow you time off to attend interviews. Update your CV and list it on various sites such as Monsterjobs, TotalJobs etc.
Try not to ftet, most of us have been there in one way or another and yes it is scary but you have to do what you can do to mitigate your loss, learn from the experience and move on. Start eating because by not eating you are making yourself ill and you will lose all sense of proportion.0 -
Key advice is, use your energy to send out as many cv's as possible, look at all options, look at benefits you are entitled to as your circumstances will change!
firstly try not for it to effect your christmas (Easy to say!)
Start today on applying, to try and make the transition as painless as possible, a lot of people in your cirmumstance will get past christmas and then start!, so try and get in first, and hopefully you can get a job pre-xmas which will make it more enjoyable.
Good luck!0 -
