Travelling from Milton Keynes to Gielgud Theatre

Hi all. Me and the OH are going to go and see Bill Bailey perform 'Tinsleworm' tonight at the Gielgud theatre. The performance starts at 8 so i'd like to be there by 7.15-7.30 really.

We will be leaving MK at about 5.30. Do you think we'll have enough time to get to Gielgud, get parked and get to the theatre in time?

There's a big multistory car park next door to it with 400+ spaces so that bit (hopefully) wont be a problem. Its just taking into account rush hour traffic on the M1 and also in london we might be a bit stretched for time. theaa.com says it will take 1hour 23minutes but obviously that doesn't consider traffic.

Whats everyones opinion?

Allow a lot of time for between J11 and 6 of the M1, there will be an accident or two.

Let the train take the strain, and you can both drink when you are there MK to euston is 40 mins.

We would get the train but because the gig will be finishing very late I dont want to have to rush to get a train home etc... Especially with work tomorrow monring it would be nice to just be able to jump in the car and get home. Plus I dont drink so thats not an issue.

How long does jct 11 and jct 6 usually take?

You want to drive into CENTRAL London? Traffic will be bad, you won't make it in time.

Parking costs will be extortionate there, Park on the outskirts and Tube in.

    The last train is 01:30
  • Look at parking charges here

    You can search by Theatre

    Looking at about £15

But bear in mind that you'll already have missed the start!

If I was driving then getting the underground I'd get it from brent cross so that would only take an hour to get to from MK.

AA says brent cross to soho is 19 minutes. Add rush hour and make that say 45 miutes?

I would have to go past brent cross if I drove then got tube or if I drove the whole way. What about if we got to brent cross by 6.30 do you think it would be worth risking the drive then?

If you lot say its that bad driving in london though might have to listen cause last thing I want is us to miss the performance =(

    Cheers Dave =)

Having a think about it Brent Cross is normally quite a quiet stop so we should be able to get a seat. Then we can just stay in our seats until leicester square so it wont be as bad a journey as i was expecting. I didnt realise there were no changes =)

Think thats definitely what we'll end up doing =) Fingers crossed we get to brent cross in time eh! Do you lot reckon it'd be worth getting off the M1 just after luton and going accross country for the rest or should I just stick out the M1?

Sorry for the million questions. As you can tell i'm quite nervous about missing this. My OH would be heartbroken. So would I when I see how much I had to pay to NOT watch a show LOL
