New to this board and trouble with landlord...

Hi New to this board and just got in from work (I work nights grrr).
I just wanted a little advice if possible, I am planning to go into my local CAB in the next few days, but thought I'd post on here also.
Basically, to give you all a run down things have gone pretty much like this...
Approx. 6 months ago I was told that my local housing group WHG (Walsall Housing Group) were going to be renovating the local flats just around the corner from me (they have been empty for about 3 years)... This they have done... not though to the standards that they originally mentioned, this though quite frankly is a grievance that I need to let go of... else I will go around the bend... or further around it!
So, I agreed to move out of my existing flat (which is also being renovated after Christmas), for a permanent move into a new flat around the corner on October 27th... this did not happen as the flats it seemed were age restricted (ie. over 40's only)... why it took them 4 months to find this out I do not know...
So the date and location of my new flat was changed to December 1st (with a lot of mis- and non-communication from staff at the said housing authority in between these dates)... this again did not happen. Just to clarify I actually went into WHG to sign my new tennancy agreement and tennancy cancellation on my existing property on Thursday 27th November... to be told that I couldn't have the keys there and then as...actually I've heard that much 'information' that I can't remember the excuse... erm I mean 'reason' they gave... anyway I got a phone call the next day (Friday) @ 1630 saying I couldn't have the keys as the move was off!
Then... the move was changed to December 8th... again to be let down... this time not even receiving a phone call to explain why... I had to phone them... and they told me that there has been an ongoing problem with national grid as the wiring outside the renovated properties was 'out of date' for want of a better expression (sorry I'm tired), since new regulations have come in regarding electical wiring?
I went into WHG this week to talk to the lady overseeing the renovations, to be finally told the aforementioned reason behind the false-starts on the scheduled moves, though she was very nice, not at any point did she apologise for me being let down... and I must admit are easily calmed down by a charm-offensive...
So I have come away from this situation still with no fixed date for a move (national grid are looking at the wiring this Thursday/Friday to see if it's acceptable), Christmas 2 weeks away, a gesture that I may be able to move in on 22nd December, meters to be fitted still by Eon (that's my responsibility) and me feeling pretty damn angry... But I feel there is nothing that can be done... I feel that I'm in a sitatuation where I can simply 'like-it-or-lump-it'???
Any ideas gladfully received, and any clarification required will be galdfully supplied

What happens if they don't find you alternative accommodation before they want to start rennovating your current home?

You sure it's your job to chase meter instalation?
I'd give shelter a call if you can't wait to see the CAB.0 -

My neighbours are in the same boat as me, well two have moved out already and two are over 40 with no kids, so will be moving into the age restricted block... so that just leaves me and one other
And your first point is a good one... though I presume they would find somewhere for me to stay soon enough if it were in their interest! :rolleyes:0 -

Sorry, I agree my post was very much like that wasn't it!
What can I say... I needed to vent my spleen! And in my defence I have been messed about terribly... Anyway... went to CAB today and couldn't wait the 3 hours required (I'm not moaning... I just had other things to fit in today)... but I've had some good news off the contractors working on the flats... I should be moving in next week... We'll see ay... I will still go to CAB to find out my rights, even if it's for renting in the future... 0
