Cheaper Driving?

2 Points, firstly, does anyone know if there is a set time when the supermarkets do the 5p per litre off petrol if you spend over £50 or is there a way of finding out (other than phoning them)?

Secondly, I'm completely ignorant when it comes to cars but am intrigued by the new Toyota (or is it Honda or something else?) that is really environmentally/economically sound? What are the drawbacks, pros, etc?

Cheers

if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.

The Toyota Prius doesn't make any financial sense in UK as it costs so much to buy and there are a lot of doubts about its long term running costs - cost of Batteries etc.

That said it is currently exempt the £8 daily London Congestion Charge and is cheap to tax.

    Obviously it makes sense environmentally.

So the Prius is no massive breakthrough and a bit unproven?

    Correct.

And if driven spiritedly it's no more frugal than any other 1.5 petrol engine.

Loving the use of "spiritedly". Its evoking all sorts of james bond images of some lil nymphette throwing my escort round tight bends.

I suppose the really depends on who you listen to. FUD tends to accompany all new technologies.
