parking charges in edinburgh town centre

  • Hi, I stayed in that travelodge last new year and parked in the hotel car park as I too thought it wasnt too bad plus no hassle.

However, this year I have booked into The George Hotel for 2 nights begining on 31 December and this has no hotel car park at all :-(

Anyone any ideas for me at all before I start to look into getting there by train. Would I be able to get a cheeky park in one of the city centre car parks at all on new years eve or would it be way too packed?
  • Try phoning the NCP at Greenside...

  • Will they reserve me a place?

    Thank you
  • I've absolutely no idea but its worth ringing as the nearest that the George recommend :)
  • Thank you, I'll get me OH to give it ago lol
  • The other alternative is to park in one of the Park and Rides on the outskirts and jump on a bus for £1.10 into town.

A word of warning if you do decide to cough up the £10 for 24 hours at the Travelodge.
It`s limited to about 25 spaces and the hotel has 193 rooms.
Also you will need coins for the machine.
  • I got to the travelodge last year on new years eve at around lunchtime and managed to get a place. Didnt rate the room though to be honest but atleast it has a park unlike my hotel choice this year :-)
  • Totally off-topic but seeing as those who've posted here clearly have experience of Scotland, can someone please interpret what my Glaswegian line manager utters at least five times a day to all of us:

"och awee yer feece, haud yer wheesht end shove wer wee granny yer Sassies"

    :confused::confused::confused:

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.
  • hi ya
Being a glaswegian ...I can give you some idea...och away yer face , I think means take your face or yourself away from here...or **** off !!!!
...haud yer wheest means keep quiet or more precisely shut up and the next bit I am quessing but think sassie might be referring to sassenachs , the english equivalent to scots being called Jock....it will interesting to see what other weggies think
