Odd Royal Mail Letter

Apologies if this is in the wrong place :o I was hoping that someone else has had an experience of this.

I received a letter from Royal Mail today stating that they have been contacted by a lady about an item of mail containing mail order goods sent on 18/08/2008.The goods are described as '1 x Bunny Lingerie'.

The letter has some yes/no questions - Has the item been received yet? Have you contacted the seller? And Have you contacted Royal Mail?

The thing thats confusing me is I haven't brought anything thats an item of lingerie either via a catalog or ebay ever (only buy in high street), the letter is quite official looking and asks me to reply within 10 days to help with the enquiries.
SayNo hasn't got an alternative number listed with the number on the letter so I can't ring them and talk to a real person.

i'm sure you'd remember if you'd ordered it LOL

Seriously, is there an address where you can send a written reply and ask them to contact you via phone to discuss.

I would take it to your post office and ask them- it could be a mistake or confusion with someone else, or it could be some sort of phishing scam, either way, if it makes no sense to you and concenrs you enough to post on here/not just throw it away, then it is good enough to get the experts to help.

It may have a phone number to call, I would strongly advise you to not call the phone number as if it is a scam or some sorts, the number will be a premium one which will hurt the bank balance!

Some bad advice on here. Fill in the form the best you can and ask if they have the correct person and send it back to them. You have no reason to call the number.

Contacting your loacl PO will be a waste of time.

Just ditching it is not very helpful.

If bogus claims are not sorted out I can see the cost of pastage going through the roof so I think its important to be as helpful as possible in sorting out claims.

I'd do the same and ditch it!

You're not breaking any laws by ignoring it, sounds like a mistake, they'll soon realise but, I wouldn't be doing any donkey work and or calling.

    Not your problem

It is everyones problem if Royal Mail losses to bogus claims continue to rise. we will all end up paying more to post parcels or else they will remove any compensation for lost items not sent by a tracked method.

It is your sort of "I'm alright Jack" attitude that is helping drive the country into the ground, in circumstances like this it costs very little in time and effort to fill in the form and stick it in a post box....

I'd think it be quite easy to check if it's genuine. Just google the address where it is expected to be send back and if it links back to royal mails site it is. Clearly, someone is trying it on and using your address as a cover
