You could check the room temperature at various t/stat valve settings or when the rads are heating up gently heat the t/stat valves with a hair drier and check that the valves turn off.robodan wrote:How can i tell if my radiator Valve's are working correctly? Depends on what the symptoms are. If the radiators are not warming up at all even when the TRV is at maximum and the room is freezing, then it may well have stuck in the off position. This is usually remedied by removing the thermostat head, placing a piece of baton on top of the pin and tapping it with a hammer.
The only other time I've experienced problems with them is on the older directional valves when they have been fitted to the wrong end of the rad, but this would usually create rattling that you would have been aware of.
If you can post more info as to why you suspect they may not be working, those of us that can will be more able to offer some ideas.0 -
Hi,
I have british gas heating cover - they came out and in the end they replaced every thermostate on every radiator in the house! (turns out that wasnt the orignial problem just something else that also needed doing! i asked them if the insurance covered it and it did so they arranged to come back and refit all the thermostats on all the rads)
Once they guy actually came to fix them did it with very little mess and was quite quick and it has made an amazing difference to our house (we had one rad we couldnt turn off in the kitchen behind our freezer and tumble drier! that was the first one we turned off!)
Give them a ring exp the prob - they will tell you if you are covered (assume you have the same policy as us but best to check) and see what they can do. I am so glad i checked as saved us alot of hassle and money.
