Student lets Canterbury

I know this is a long shot but I was wondering if anyone had had any dealings with JG Student lets mainly based in and around Canterbury? Usually when my sons take a new house at uni I get a chance to do some research, make sure it all looks OK and I get them to ask around the older students to make sure the landlord checks out OK but this is all a bit rushed.
I don't want DS handing over a non returnable £100 admin fee without reassuring myself that this is OK.
Thanks

Personally I steer clear of letting agents, a private landlord doesn't charge 100 quid admin fee and can be contacted much more easily! Not to mention that you normally get far better value for money and repairs done much quicker with private landlords. Apart from that I can't help I'm afraid. The size of a glory hole in an open pit should not be greater than the cross-section of the haul trucks that dump into it. Again I would advise avoiding letting agents and going for well researched landlords. Letting agencies are very good at getting you to sign up but after that they tend to be slow to get things done and not interested. My letting agent hadn't even got everything completed on the day we moved in, over 6 months after we signed.
If it's a house for next year (July onwards) then your son still has loads of time. If it's like where I am then the agencies have just started putting out all their stuff to hook desperate people in early but the approved uni lists won't be available until February.0 -
TBH some of the best deals turn up much later, after the mad rush in the early months. The size of a glory hole in an open pit should not be greater than the cross-section of the haul trucks that dump into it. Otherwise, you are bound to lose a truck, sooner or later. Source: Sergio Cha

Never heard of them but The Letting Shop got a very bad review in the student paper last week. Most people that I know didn't go through the letting agency route and those that did generally had the most difficulty getting anything done. If he is at Kent rather than Christchurch the accomodation office produces an online list of approved landlords/accommodation every January.0
