ok even though i went back to college in August, and have been recieving my student loan and bursary every month, only now SAAS are asking to see proof of my step dads income?
They sent him a letter asking for a copy of his p60, i havent had the time to photocopy it yet though.
But when i applied for my loan and bursary online in June, they never asked for any of this, just how much he earns and his NI number, so he told me to put down £15,000, which i did.
Now looking at his p60 (which he only gave me to photocopy) he only makes £14,650 a year.
So does this mean that my bursary will be increased and backdated?
As i currently only get £134 student loan and £214 bursary every month
any help or advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Might change by £1 or £2 but nothing much. However you shouldn't have 'just put £15,000' down, as this isn't accurate, you always should use the exact amount.
They are most probably just checking, yeh you'll be fine as its less than £15,000 but if its more they would ask for money back.0 -

i'm asuming they didn't need to see it right away, as i'm doing my second year of my HND.
so same course, same college, only in second year now.
so will they backdate it as well then?
cause that could be an extra £10 to pay to my debts lol!0 -
No idea, they might just ignore it as its under £15,000 and won't change it lol.0

on the SAAS website there's a support calculator, and I put in both income amounts and the amount of support doesn't change. After all it is a relatively small difference in income. If you want a look yourself it's here:

Hi,
My parents had to do this last year. Apparently they take a random sample of people just to check for fraud. It was good for me though as I got reassessed and got more money. I don't know how it will affect you though. You will just have to send it and see because if you don't send it then I think they stop your loan. Hope it works out for you.0 -

Are you sure you are allowed to send a photocopy. I know with the SLC you must send the original copy to them. SAAS might do it differently though.0

I had to do this for my first two years as well. My dad is self employed so had to involve the accountant. When I applied for the second year, they only gave me the non-means tested loan until they received proof of income (which didn't occur until after I had received the last loan payment of the year). Once they had the proof, I received the rest of my bursary and loan as a lump sum. One thing to watch out for is the balance of bursary to loan being adjusted - in my first year my father had overestimated his income and his real income had been somewhat lower - my total support went up by £500 but the loan had gone by £400 while the bursary had gone up £900. As the SAAS are seperate to SLC they didn't deduct the difference themselves so I had to sort the overpayment out myself.QuirkyChemistry wrote: »Hi,
