Good idea! I somehow ended up with 4 aprons and 3 hats when I finally jacked in my kitchen job... I just used to pinch any that I saw lying around or "forget" to take mine with me when I hadn't washed them and I'd be "lent" a fresh set which I "forgot" to return...

wish i could do that, we hardly have any spare aprons/shirts cause the uniforms have all changed for the rest of the staff (checkouts etc) and are now green checked shirts, but the cafe uniforms are the same (blue), and they are only ordering in the new uniforms now!!
it's so bad, i hate that place, i really do! lol

My ex used to work in the Deli at morrisons and it put me off buying from a deli for life! She put on weight because they used to eat all the fresh meat and cheese while leaving the old stuff out for weeks :(

Still, a job is better than nothing and I'm assuming you get free/cheap food? We used to get as much as we could physically eat!

Ah a staff canteen, I used to know a guy who cooked in Asda's staff canteen, he was a legend. We basically got anything that was left over so at 11am we got full english breakfast, at lunch we got whatever we served and then in the evening we'd take home boxes of stuff. Anything not served was thrown away daily so we used to take it all between us. A group of hungry students can carry their own weight in chicken kievs... fact!

Do you walk to work? Do it in the rain, then when you get there you'll be soaked and need new uniform (to borrow for the day) then never bring it back...got caught quite a few times in last years rain and ended up with double the amount of uniform I should of had!!

no i get the bus, my work is about a 30min walk away, i used to walk during the summer, but it's too cold now.

Ach fair enough, especially as your female, it's not worth the risk for the price of a bus fare. Two summers ago I was so skint I couldn't afford 50p for the bus so I used to walk 4 miles to work then 4 miles back! It was awful, I got to work absolutely shattered then worked anything up to a 17hr shift!! Everytime I got paid I'd take the bus for 3-4 days then get back to walking!
