cmos battery

Hi the time and date on my computer has gone out of sync

and i get the warning when i boot up "cmos battery low"...

what kind of battery do i need to buy to replace it? are they generic for computers or specific to motherboard + voltages etc?


finally where is a cheap place to buy one?....ebay?

    open up the case and look on the motherboard , you should be able to see it , looks like a 10 p piece , round and silver , read the number then get one from Maplins

    You've gone numerically dyslexic, espresso! Normal type is CR2032...

    [edit: but then that's obvious from the link you posted, which says CR2032...]

    once you have changed the battery you will have to go into the CMOS setup to restore your settings. the default settings usually work ok then teeak as required.
