Ok I got the Firefox add on, but it says this now:
Your browser is not supported.
ESET Online Scanner is based on ActiveX technology and requires Microsoft Internet Explorer with enabled ActiveX controls. User has to agree to install ActiveX package signed by ESET.
For more details check System Requirements.
Any idea what I need to do that won't make it worse? Should I have rebooted after the add on? Also got the same message using Internet Explorer (version8).0 -
Ok will try that now.0

Ok, you need internet explorer for Eset Online scan to work.
Just stick with MalwareBytes for now.0 -
OK 7 mins in and no detections it died again.
For what its worth, I ran all the stuff on the 'removing malware' sticky into the early hours - but not in 'safe mode' - maybe that's where I'm going wrong?0 -
To be honest you have nothing to lose by running Malwarebytes in safe mode.0
-
Ok will try that next.0
