    So I did save £300 but used that as my spending money for my holiday in July! I'm starting again now to save money for christmas, going to Prague at the end of November to get presents for people from the markets there (plus everything is pretty cheap over there too!). I'm also putting all my overtime money into it as well (when I get some overtime at work!)
    Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £
    LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000
    Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 2017
  • My pot is back to zero now as well. I wanted to save at least £200 for hol spends and have ended up with £300 which is now converted into euros. :j :j

    I'm starting again for christmas, if I can get another £200 by then I will be happy.

    This thread has been pretty quiet lately, hope you are all doing well. :D

    Ok this is the first of more regular updates on this thread - I promise :)
    Today is payday! :j
    I have done the end of month sweep of my bank account and with other moneies to be added I have £24.92 now in my shiney new VSP Savings account :D
    I opened a IF isaver for my VSP as I know then that I will not be as tempted to dip into it if I am running low on funds and I really want to save for a new car in the next year or so and this way I can have some sort of deposit for it at least.

    I hope everyone else is getting on OK

    P

    I'm another one who emptied my VSP so it's starting again from scratch. Current total is £41. I'm intending to use this account for things that I don't want to use my ISA savings on, so probably things like a new laptop. Like Palema, mine is an Isaver which is good as I can't just stick the card in and draw money out of it!
    ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)
  • IF isaver now up and running only problem is it is not a real time transfer but a BACS transfer, they do from my bank account (HBOS) so takes 3-5 days to show as being in my account. Doesn't make sense to me as I have my house savings with A&L and its an automatic transfer to them :confused:

    Anyway enough of the ranting!!! Another £5.02 added to my piggy bank today :T Taking my grand total to £29.94.

    Palema - That's quite annoying! My Internet saver is with NatWest (same as my current account) so it's pretty much instant on online banking.

    £9.18 into the VSP today, so the total is now £59.18. I've decided that the VSP is going to be used towards paying for future dental costs/eye tests/new glasses as I never seem to have enough money in my current account for those and don't want to use my ISA savings unless it's an absolute emergency. Otherwise, it's still the new laptop fund.

    Its very annoying because it comes out my account but does not appear in my iSaver for ages!! Even worse is that HBOS and IF are the same blinking company :eek:
    I have other websavers with my bank for my car, medical stuff and holidays/social, but I found with my A&L account that I am not tempted to dip into it near the end of the month when funds are getting low, I really would like a new car in the next year or two so my thinking is, if I can't see it I will save more!! Hoping it will work! :D

    Didn't realise they were the same company - that definitely makes the frustration even worse! Sounds like they need to get their act together big time with the transfers!

    Sounds like a good plan! I'm sticking to two savings accounts seeing as I actually forget that I had a Savings Direct account with Natwest (now closed) due to it not being on online banking! I can see myself getting into a total mess with multiple accounts so the plan for now is just for the VSP to contain everything that isn't going into the house savings or staying in the current account as I can't withdraw at an ATM. I'll probably change my mind next week though!

    £7.12 in the pot today! Now up to over £10!

  • I haven't updated my total on here for ages. I'm up to £232.76 which I've saved up over the last year or so by just transferring from my current account the pounds and pence to round it down to the next nearest £10. It'll hopefully mean I wont have to us the credit card this Christmas. :beer:
