My screen if 9" in depth, yet with all the various bars across, the actual list of forum threads is less than 4" from the bottom.

If I knew how to a screen save I would show you. If I can I'll try to explain as I'm sure it shouldn't be like this, :-

MoneySavingExpert Forums Windows Internet Explorer
Back & Forward ..........Refresh bar & Google search
Favourites Star.............Icon's (home page, feeds, print, page, tools
Norton bar (fraud monitoring) Options
MSE Mast Head
Home forums etc
Important, This forum etc
Remember etc
Welcome islandman etc
Main site etc

so what can be removed as unnecessary ?

    Those probably.

I can understand how it is annoying.

I use the Adblock Plus: Element Hiding Helper for Firefox to remove unnecessary page elements when viewing the forums.

I want to read the forums rather that the extra stuff when I'm actually on the forums.

So I end up with this sort of gap from the top of page to the content:

Not sure if there is anything similar for Internet Explorer.

Hopefully by morning someone may have been able to offer a modicum of help.

So what more help do you require?

 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:
  • I can't help, I refuse to click the IE button! :)
At a guess (if it follows similar structure to other browsers) there should be a VIEW tab, possibly revealed by pressing the ALT key.
click VIEW> and turn most of the rubbish off, favorites, norton (pmsl) etc..
you just need the navigation toolbar (back forward etc.) and the address bar (https://www.letmegooglethatforyou.com).
9" is very small for a screen, which may be where the real problem lies, getting a pint in a quart jug and all that....
as to a modicum of help, I, like fremi, use firefox, and addblock plus, but I've never come across the element hiding helper, so he/she has introduced me to something new to try with his/her useful post

  • well I got carried away with HIS new toy and blocked so much of the site that I couldn't send PMs (I'd blocked that element)
