Marks and Spencer online

Options
Excuse this as a first thread I have started I think but I am a tad irate!

Just got this from M+S

"Dear Customer
Thank you for your order during our Spectacular Event
We're sorry to tell you that since your order was placed, we have
discovered that there are one or more items you ordered that are
currently out of stock. These items have now been cancelled from your
order and will not be visible in your online account.
You have not been charged for any of these out of stock items. Please check your online account to view any remaining items that will be
sent to you.
We apologise for any disappointment this may cause. If we can be of any further help, please feel free to contact us by using the following link http://www.marks-and-spencer.com/contact-us
Thanks again for shopping with Marks and Spencer.
Kind Regards,
Marks and Spencer Customer Services"

I now have an incomplete set of china that I will have to take back to my nearest store half an hour ago - I was unable to cancel the rest of the order.

This is after the order was delayed - by over 10 days. I still don't have it it *may* arrive on 18-22nd December, oh and in 2 parts to boot.

I have phoned customer service and ranted and they offered me £5 credit - and when I ranted some more £15 gift card, and granted I bought the stuff on the 20 percent day but it isn't very good service is it?

What annoyed me the most was that they just delete the items, I assume hoping you won't remember what you ordered.

Anyone else experienced this or similar?

I've only used M&S online twice, both times have had the same experience with things being unavailable and cancelled. One order wasn't even in the sale/discount thingy.

Not impressed - will stick to the store I think.
    Now proud Mumto3 :j

If it hasn't already arrived, & you are in when the courier calls, refuse to accept the package. That way you don't have to take it back to your local store, or take it to a post office to be returned.

Can you tell I've done this before? ;)
Last time I order one pair of trousers, & a single birthday card, to take me over the free postage minimum. Needless to say trousers out of stock 5 days later, & they tried to charge me £4 delivery to send one £1 card by courier!!!
Don't bother with M&S online, it's not worth it.

Thanks - the refusing to accept the package is a good idea actually - why didn't I think of that!? Of course I may legitimately end up being out and also it may never come.

The £1 card by courier would be funny if it wasn't just so indicative of the ridiculousness of their online "service".

Dont go ranting at the customer service reps, its not they're fault its happened
  • I have always had good service in the past but half the order i made in the latest 20 % event was cancelled meaning i was going to miss out on 3 for 2 offers making the order not worth it, luckily i managed to cancel the lot online before it was despatched.
I had an e mail today offering 20% off the site again using a code as an apology.
    WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..

... I had the same 20% discount code valid until 17th Dec, it said it was a 'personal code for me only' - what me and the thousand others!!

The trouble is it's a waste if the items I want are still out of stock before 17th (which they probably will be!)

  • The items I had cancelled are now back in stock...no 20% code for me though :(

you got £15 for a few minutes of your time. i think they've handled it well to be honest.
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

It won't be a few minutes of my time as I will have to drive 30 mins to take the stuff back - some of it was left on my doorstep when I was out.

I don't think they have handled it "wel"l, if they had I would have had all the stuff that I ordered that was showing as in stock when I ordered it.

When I say ranted I did rant nicely and did say " I am not angry with you, just the situation" and I was very polite.

I got sent a 20 percent code but won't be ordering from them again to be honest.

I thought you could send it back via the postal service?
