How much for 2000 VW Polo 1.4 timing belt?

Hi my Volkswagen polo has done over 60,000 miles and needs a new timing belt. I have no idea about cars and was wondering what is a good price for this to be replaced?

I have got the following quotes for the timing belt kit fitted including vat:

• Small garage = £150
• Kwik-fit = £170
• Volkswagen = £180

First of all i was wondering if these seem like decent prices?
and if i would be better getting it done with Volkswagen for the sake of the extra £10/£30 or if it wouldn't make a difference where i got it done and should go for the cheapest?

Any advice would be apprectiated. Thanks in advance

I would say as there is only a small difference between the small garage and the main dealer, take it to the dealers.

Whatever you do do not let Kwik Fit touch your car!:eek:

Whoever you go with, make sure that any pulleys and tensioners are replaced as well as just the belt. I'd go with small garage or VW. I'd forget Thick Gits.

ask vw to price match the independant garages price.
apparently they will match it.
