I bought an xbox sunday, my husband tried it monday and it was faulty.
So off i went bk to comet to ask for money bk or to swap it me for a new one, they said i should ring xbox up giving me this free phone number for a ref number then i had to go bk to comet with the number and they would deal with it.
so i asked to use there phone while i was in comet the chap from xbox didnt know what i was on about with the ref number. anyway it took an hr in the shop haggling the toss with the comet women but i eventually got my money bk and went and got one from argos!! I will never buy from comet again!!

The thing that stuck me most about this is the fact that you have found a high street Dixons, I thought they had all been turned into Currys Digital stores
Dixons is online only now, at least I thought it was.....We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Microsoft has now tightened the strings with XBOX returns due to the three red light problem. A number of XBOX's were being returned with this fault only to be recieved by Microsoft without it, therefore Microsoft have refused to allow retailers to deal with their hardware within guarantee.
However you purchased it under 28 days prior to the fault occuring, within 28 days Comet should have given a straight exchange.0 -
Argos does the same.
It's not just Microsoft/XBOX who won't let retailers deal with faulty returns (after 28 days), Sony/Playstation is the same.[DISCLAIMER: Any posts made by myself are my opinions and do not represent my employer]
God put me on Earth to acomplish a certain number of things.
Right now I am so far behind I will probably never be allowed to die!0 -
We have had the same with a faulty toshiba lcd tv, it keeps going fuzzy so we phoned the toshiba techincal help line who went through loads of things before the guy said that it definelty was faulty, so whilst we were out shopping we called into comet(just to make you aware the tv was less than a week old at the time), to ask if they still had them instock so we could bring ours back and get a replacement, we were told that it doesn't work like that you have to book an appointment with a comet engineer who will come out check of the tv is faulty then give you a slip of paper stating whether your entitled to exchange/refund on it.
So we made an appointment for the engineer who arrives asked us the model number of the tv, signs a piece of paper and said he doesn't need to check the tv he believed us it was broke.
So i phoned comet to ask them if the had the same model instock so we could bring ours back and exchange it - they have now stated that the tv os out of stock at all comets (including online) and that it won't be coming back in stock as they have stopped selling that one.
So were back to square one choosing a telly again(which is not great just before christmas).
Wouldn't ind but we originally bought one from Dixons online which when arrived it had a smashed screen so it had to go back which took them two weeks to collect it and then around 10 days for my refund to go through - beginning to think we shouldn't have a new TV.0 -

I think the lesson here is to avoid Dixons & Comet rather then avoid getting a new TV!0
