Ford Ka Service
Hi,
My KA needs a 37,500 mile service soon, and an MOT
Called ford...they can do it for £230 Parts, labour and VAT included! <- just for the service
However, Tried on kwikfit website, MOT and Service together for £152, for a "full service"
what does full service mean, is that the same as a 37,500 mile service, or is the 37,500 a bigger service than full?
I would be very greatful for any advice explainging this as im not good at all this service, mot etc stuff.
THANK YOOOOOOU

try a different ford dealer they should be doing it for around £150. do not use kwik fit, dont use any of these fast fit centres for servicing.
find a local independant garage and get them to do it. it shouldnt cost any more than £150 for a full service....work permit granted!0 -
If you look in your service book it should explain what work should be carried out at each service interval.0

http://www.etis.ford.com/fordservice/serviceScheduleForm.do will give you the full schedule. 37.5K / 3yr is the big service.0

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but seemed better than making a new one on a related subject.
My 2005 ka is due for an MOT at the end of the month but it only has 16,500 miles on the clock. Anyone forsee any major issues I should check for before putting it through...don't want them finding something silly and minor to fail. It's a good car and i've had no problems with it so far. First time i've had to MOT a car so don't want any failing...in N.Ireland if it's relevant.0 -
I always do a " check the obvious " inspection on my car/s before taking them for an MOT.
I check that all lights are working, check the tyres, seatbelts, horn, washers/wipers, number plates, anything that can be checked in fact.0 -

Will have to get someone out with me to check all the lights. Rest of it seems fine. Can't see any issue but I have a distrust of anything where it'll gain the other person/entity money by finding something wrong!0 -

You should be checking lights regularly, not just when an MOT is due.
You don't need anyone else to help you, just turn the lights on and walk around the car and check.
The only difficult one is the brake lights. Technique here when there is no one to help is to reverse up to a wall at night and check then, or parking in a garage is perfect - you'll be able to see from the drivers seat. Also sometimes possible to do in traffic (e.g. waiting at traffic lights with a vehicle behind) or in a reflective shop window."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

I always find a brick on the pedal suffices, or my toolbox...0 -

Can't remember if these apply to your age car but I think they commenly needed the bushes replacing. Also had leaky steering racks (but I'm sure you'd have noticed that before now)DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 19017/05/08 - Total on DMP: £10025.7007/05/14 - Total on DMP: £1666.20 DFD: July 2017!!Baby Tomos born 5th June 2009 - 6lb 5oz :jWeight Loss Target - to lose 60.8lb by NYE 2015 - 37.6lb TO GO0
