washing machine repair time ??

Hi can anyone tell me what a "reasonable time" would be for a washing machine to be repaired ???
WE have a beko WMA150W washing machine, it started to go wrong on 24th november, the repair guy came out on November 28th and said that we needed a new motor and that it needed to be ordered and that was the last we heard from him [we still have the machine]!!! I rang them up last wednesday and they said "oh we have only just ordered the parts??!!
It is still in the 1st year warranty [runs out January 15th 2009]...is there anything we can do about this ???
many thanks

I would have thought that, because you have started a claim during the warranty period the work should be done under warranty. It would appear from other posts on here that your main mistake was to buy something from Beko. If it has broken down in less than a year then perhaps the general low opinion of Beko products is justified.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

i havent made a claim for anything..it still under the year warranty all i did was ring the customer service number and an engineer came out on the 28th november and am still waiting for the repair to take place ...this is the first beko item i have purchased, as a pensioner it was one of the cheaper ones that was recommended to me......but it has cost me £99 anyway as i had to go and and buy a spin dryer as i can not dry the items by hand.....

My experience of Beko undertaking repairs is very poor. It took them almost 6 months to repair a washing machine of mine of the same model. They booked an engineer several times to attend only for it to be cancelled on the same day as they realised they didn't have all the parts required after all. Mine was just out of warranty though.

My advice would be to keep on at them continuously and log times and dates of calls and who you spoke to. Press them for a timescale.

I don't know how long is "reasonable" to wait The fact that you have raised a claim under the warranty during the warranty period means that if it isn't repaired before the end of the warranty period ie 15th Jan, they can't then decline to carry out the work and say it is now out of warranty.

I would say though that a month really should be ample time for them to source the parts and do the repair. This washing machine is still in circulation so it isn't as though it's an old machine.

the last i heard was my daughter emailed beko customer service and they said "the parts have been sent" and that is all!! I am waiting for the "but it is christmas" excuse next...

The customer service dept were hopeless when i dealt with them. Trying to describe the problem was painful as the lady just didn't understand. The bolts that hold the concrete block in place has snapped so as there was no weight the machine danced round the kitchen floor. It was in one of my rental properties and knowing it was quite serious I bought the tenant a new machine - thank goodness I did as I couldn't have expected them to wait 6 months

The whole process was painful! That's why I say to make a nuisance of yourself. They simply don't seem to be able to get the parts in fast enough probably because they break down all the time

I have another Beko washer in my garage from another rental property. This one doesn't spin properly and when I removed it from the house it hadn't completed the cycle 5 hours after starting! I can't decide whether to bin it rather than faff around again.

I am not buying Bekos again. I do have another in a rental property and 2 years later it hasn't had a problem so I guess it's horses for courses.
  • I still had not heard anything from them so I was ready for another go to see what was gong on...but today I received a letter saying that they were sorry and that I was to contact the company I bought the washing machine from for a replacement!!! But O'dear they did not have any so I have to look for another one of the same amount :j
  • I have the exact same machine as you littlemunchkin. Mine broke on the 7th Dec and am meant to be having someone round tomorrow to look at mine. Beko have said they would send me copy receipt as i only have an email receipt which isnt acceptable proof of purchase, still waiting after 8 days for this to arrive.
This is the 2nd time its been repaired in 10 months so i wouldnt buy another Beko again.
Dont allow someone to be your priority.....whilst letting you be their option

just found this post, was wondering what went wrong on your bekos?

mine no longer spins the washing, its 10 months old. Ive been told if it cant be reapired in a reasonable time I will get a new one.
