Car service - original parts or not?

Hi there,

I need to get my car serviced.

Should I go for original parts or the cheaper versions? Am wondering whether it makes much difference

My car is a 53 plate Toyota Corolla if that changes things.

Thanks for any thoughts?

So I would go with the cheaper parts.

Go for the cheaper parts but stick with a genuine oil filter as many don't have a non return vavle meaning that oil drains back out of them when the engine is not in use and therefore there's a little delay in getting up to pressure when you start it.

I'd always go genuine. Been both sides of the parts supply fence and quality on OE is always better. As Conor says, there are little touches like the valve in the Oil Filter that make genuine better quality and better for the engine.
