Well if she just wants to record TV I recommend a HD based pvr much better and easier than a dvd recorder, like the Humax range, very very easy to use and setup

If you want a all in one that plays DVD's because of lack of space perhaps then either a dvd recorder or one that has a hard drive in

Hi there i am also looking for a DVD recorder for my mam, she is currently recording using video. i have come across quite a few DVD recorders under £100 found by the comparison site 'foundem'. but some of them don't have good reviews. i really want something very easy to use and which won't stress my mam out. she has got cable in but i don't understand much about recording straight from TV to hard drives plus i am not sure it would be possible for my mam as she only has basic package and quite an old TV.

    thanks hinx

Get a humax PVR, or if DVD is a must (and if they only want one box under the TV, it probably will be, get a panasonic DMR EX768. They're very easy to use, upscale well and have both DVD recording ability AND a hard drive.

At work I have no end of sony DVD/HDD recorders returned because they're a pain in the butt to use, not least because of the TV guide+ they use, while panasonics use standard EPG.
