Pc World

Options
Hi
I bought a laptop from pc world in july this year. I also took out the pc performance. cover for your product if anything happens to it. covering ALL repairs. (except misuse, wires , cables etc..).
last week i couldnt connect to the internet and it was very slow.
i took it in and after I contacted them the next day they told me the bad news.
"they thought" , there was something wrong with windows so they would have to restore the whole lot and start from scratch! oh, and that will cost £30!!!!!!
how mad was i?
i explained that windows came with the laptop when i bought it just 5 months ago so the fault must of already been in there, and i have pc performance!
they told me pc performance did not cover software!
after a huge row and asking to speak to the manager (he wouldnt come to the phone.....what a surprise!) thay said they wouldnt charge me.
when i went to pick my laptop up , i asked the "tech guy" to show me in the terms and cond where it says it doesnt cover software. after looking for 10 mins, he agreed it didnt. but.....it did in the old leaflets!!!! before march 2008 i would assume as thats the date the leaflet came out!!!
if i have any future software probs, i shall be pointing that fact out angrily!

i hate pc world!!!!!!!

I too have had a bad experience with PC World and their PC performance. We took it to cover an ipod. Well to cut a long story short we had an intermittent problem with it. No exchange was possible so it was sent off 3 times and each time it was returned 'working' but that just meant that the problem was not displaying itself. in the end i demanded a replacement which they would not do.

Very frustrating as it is nigh on impossible to get someone on their many 'helplines' who speaks clear english or 'sorry you have dialled the wrong number, call 0845....' and wait another 20 mins waiting for someone to answer.

Still never got resolved to this day. Won't shop there again.

have a read on bitter wallet about pc world (Do some searchs) you will see why their customer service is bad and will only get worse https://www.bitterwallet.com

Basically they have laid off the majority of the customer service and tech guys, its not looking good for their staff or us customers

Personally I go to my local pc shop (1 of a kind, not chain) and find them very helpful. They were able to solve my pc problem in 4 hours, whereas pc world couldnt do it in 2 weeks.
