Hi
I bought a laptop from pc world in july this year. I also took out the pc performance. cover for your product if anything happens to it. covering ALL repairs. (except misuse, wires , cables etc..).
last week i couldnt connect to the internet and it was very slow.
i took it in and after I contacted them the next day they told me the bad news.
"they thought" , there was something wrong with windows so they would have to restore the whole lot and start from scratch! oh, and that will cost £30!!!!!!
how mad was i?
i explained that windows came with the laptop when i bought it just 5 months ago so the fault must of already been in there, and i have pc performance!
they told me pc performance did not cover software!
after a huge row and asking to speak to the manager (he wouldnt come to the phone.....what a surprise!) thay said they wouldnt charge me.
when i went to pick my laptop up , i asked the "tech guy" to show me in the terms and cond where it says it doesnt cover software. after looking for 10 mins, he agreed it didnt. but.....it did in the old leaflets!!!! before march 2008 i would assume as thats the date the leaflet came out!!!
if i have any future software probs, i shall be pointing that fact out angrily!
i hate pc world!!!!!!!

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.:hello:0 -
Tut tut, took it back to PC World. Perhaps this would be better on the techie thread as I do not think it was a 'windows' problem, but maybe some spyware or other. Typical of the NEDs at PC World to do the reformat.
Note. At time internet connections can go slow. These may be due to traffic conditions or work at the exhange. If this happens again, reboot your PC and your router. Speed may also be depended on your ISP contract and if you use download players, such as the BBC iPlayer or gaming, these can eat up a monthly allowance and restrict other Internet use. My speed reduces sometimes between 4 and 6 in the evening.
To test your connection speed try here.

pc is fine now its all been restored. the whole thing was slow booting up, not the internet connection. i couldnt even get on the internet. i dont think pc world tech people bother finding the problem. they just restore the whole thing cause its easier for them.0
