Huh! I use it too, sometimes! Especially when there's been a completely OT bit of discussion and I suddenly spot a moneysaving suggestion to get things back on track! :rotfl:

I have trouble with this one:  I know it's mean to be sarcasm, but to me that's just a 'ho hum, here she goes again' look of the kind I get every day from my lads. No malice intended!

I agree. on its own is definitely negative and put-downish. I seldom use it to criticise others, but often when it is VERY clearly in a joky mood, preferably followed by :p or ;) which changes the tone completely. :)

Me too!! I also use it in an 'OMG, wot am I like?' self-mocking way. 'Rolling my eyes'.

As if language wasn't enough of a minefield on its own, we've also got to deal with the secret language of smilies  (that one was my personal favourite, till I saw Quasar's 'jumping up and down' angry smiley. I'm now looking for a reason to be angry, so I can use it...:o )

Ok.....I've now decided maybe the type of angry smilie is the problem. :) Quasar's one and even tru's one seem a little less inflammatory perhaps.

I suspect I would laugh at someone seriously posting a stomping, red in the face smilie. How can you be annoyed at someone who is basically just having a tantrum? :rotfl:

    .....
I would much rather see the offensive smilies go. :)

An example being the "three in a bed" smilie....:grouphug:

Lol.....considering the 'group hug' smilie.....I dread to imagine how a 'tongue-in-cheek' smilie would look. :D
