    This is lovely :)

    I'd include chocolate covered coffee beans if s/he likes coffee. They taste great and are a HUGE caffeine kick. Also when I did my a-levels my boyfriend of the time sent me a small box of handmade chocolates and a bag of finely grated chocolate which was meant to be slowly dissolved into milk for the perfect hot chocolate. My major problem with revision etc... is I never feel like I've really achieved anything at the end of the day unless there's a finished piece of work so being able to 'achieve' a special chocolate as a reward was really good for me :)

    Thanks for all the suggestions, I really like Ree's suggestion of a trashy magazine for a bit of light relief :) I've got to think about writing my own thesis before too long, which I'm really not looking forward to, so I'll have to stock up with everything for myself too....

    celyon90 I also have fingerless gloves for doing work on my computer at work.....it's only 12c where my desk is!!!! I'm hoping to write up in the spring/summer to avoid the cold conditions :)

    That is really a good idea, would never have thought of it myself!

    I think photos are a really good present;

    Either:
    1. a nice photos frame with one photo of everyone and a message underneath,
    2. cut loads of photos of friends/family and put them in a bigger frame, so she can see everyone who cares about her when shes feeling down.
    3. Photo album with one photo of each of her friends/family with a special personal message from each person, (even younger kids).

    I was given this on my 18th, and can honestly say it is priceless to me. All friends, uncles, aunts, cousins, siblings and cousins kids wrote special messages, kids just did special drawings for me, and now whenever i feel down I look at that, and it makes you feel like carrying on, and reminds you people are there for you.

    Anyway, hope you understand all this, its an assignment in itself. :rotfl:
    Just an idea from me, and hope it works for you2, i'm sure she'd really enjoy it!! ;)

    without wishing to hijack this thread, i'd just like to ask... where do you get chocolate coated coffee beans from? i had some about 10 years ago and i've been looking ever since. when (if) i finally get round to writing up, they will be just what i need, i think!
