Argos Card - HELP!!

I'd personally steer far clear of the Argos card - the APR on it is ridiculous!
As far as I'm aware, they don't do any 'cash advance' deals - your only option I think would be to buy something very expensive on the 6 months interest free option, sell it on (probably losing some money here) and hope that you've made enough money to pay back the card before the interest-free runs out.
Doesn't sound like the greatest plan ever though....:undecided

Exactly the idea we had and exactly the thoughts we are having, far from the best plan, but the only thing we can think of to get cash fast. :o

Well my advice would be not to rush into it and speak to them first as you may be able to get something sorted.

    Fingers are crossed for you.

Thanks. I'm going to try and get some sort of quotes from cash convertors tomorrow and take it from there.

Don't suppose you have someone in the family who could lend you some short term until you do your overtime?

  • I can see what you are saying. You have something you need to pay for (e.g. car broken down needing fixing or such like, not our business anyway, but just saying for arguments sake).

Sounds like you don't mind what you pay in the long run, the main thing is that you really need to pay this bill.

Your alternatives - how much do you need to raise and when do you need to raise it by?

Yes it's two front tyres I don't mind sharing that in case anyone wasv thinking I'm up to no good lol.

£1000 would fix that and get the others off our back, and stop the bank charges - £150 a month is just ridiculous! *cough*HSBC*cough*!

    :o Didn't think such a thing :D

I know what it's like, I had 3 tyres needing replaced a few weeks ago. Expensive when you're skint.

Hm, Argos card I imagine is probably just useful for Argos goods so can see your thinking. You need to buy enough and sell it on to get £1000. You would probably lose a lot of money on what you buy to sell on, but of course, it's your car and I'm sure you will need it, sometimes short term is more important (I couldn't get to work otherwise).

I would ask if there are any other cards, payday loans, etc but I think you will already of thought of these things so I won't :D

If there are no other options of getting the money fast, and no overdraft facilities, if you need it sooner than 3 weeks applying and waiting for a new credit card, the best things you can probably get your hands on are these computer consoles and jewellery too, people always seem to need these things! :o

Thanks! I was beginning to think I was going mad doing this sort of thing, at least someone else can now see my logic, either that or we're both mad!
  • Do Argos do balance transfers?

I'm looking at their summary box, don't know if you have another overdraft or credit card that you can transfer to that will free up the funds on the other cards?

I assume it's £150ish for tyres and then £850 to try and rob peter to pay paul?

If that is the case then we need to see your SOA so we can work out if in reality you need to 'borrow' that £850 if you see what i mean?

Realistically what you are suggesting doing is shifting money from one to the other acheiving nothing but earning yourself huge amounts of interest.
