    yip this could cause the battery to discharge and send all the lights dim. the circuit needs to be complete to charge.
    the bulb in the dash board must work or else the circuit will go open. this may cure your fault.

    my mate bought a diesel with no Starter motor, it is possible but bloody tricky

    I was acutally physically sick after pushing him up and down the road for 10 minutes

    i bump started a 7.5 tonne leyland using a gas powered fork lift.......
