Deposit not returned-how do I prove this?

Hi there,
My name is Anna I am new to this forum:)
I am looking for some advice! I had to place a deposit for various things from a housing company I used to rent from (a2 housing). The items I placed a deposit for were returned to the company in person they day after I moved out of my rented room which was the 12/10/08. They have not returned my deposit but are claiming to have returned my monies to my account. How can I prove to them that I have not received my deposit back? Does it come down to copies of my bank statement?
Any advice would be gratefully received,
Many thanks for reading,
Anna x

Hi Anna and welcome

They will know exactly where they returned it to and when. Once you have the account number then go to the place with a statement from that month and it will prove that they haven't paid it.Debts: Gym £[strike]465.75[/strike] Student account [strike]£1039.88[/strike] Overdraft [strike]£129.00[/strike] Credit Card [strike]£2772.22[/strike] Loan [strike]£6222.01 [/strike]
Total £10628.86
All paid off! 10/03/2009 :j0 -
Thank you for the advice, unfortunately I don't live in the same city anymore but I'll see what I can do!:rolleyes:0

I would suggest also that as you cannot prove a negative, it is up to them to prove that they have returned it.
Simply ask them for the proof that they have filled their contractual obligation.0 -
AS above, I would demand to see proof of the deposit returned. They should have it, if not, pop into Trading Standards and let them handle it for you.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Thank you all so much for your advice, hopefully I'll manage to get it sorted asap.;)
