phones 4u- worst service ever!!!!!

i am absolutely seething with phones 4u
at the end of november, i got my last paycheque before xmas, so i started christmas shopping, good idea i thought, save myself some money :money:
yeah right
i bought a nokia 1100 on virgin from phones 4u for £19.99 explaining to the sales assistant it was for a christmas present.
they activated the sim, same as always (apparently) and i took it home, wrapped it up and on xmas day, my dad got exactly what he wanted- a new mobile :j
he was well pleased :j
trouble is, he brought it home last night, and the screen was broke, a line of pixels was faulty, making one line of the display dim, so he couldnt read menu options or texts, fair enough i thought, i will take it back to phones 4u and get it exchanged or refunded.
i obviously needed my head testing
its faulty, thats for sure, but phones 4u only refund/exchange on certian networks for 14 days after purchase- so it had to be repaired
i explained to the assistant that it was a christmas present and this was explained to the other assistant at the time, and no mention of any such policy was made, and no signage was visible.
assistant couldn't help, so i asked for the manager.
big mistake
i had to explain the whole thing again, and whenever i mentioned anything like the signage not being in place or that it was a christmas present i was spoken to very sharply, very rudely and like i was a peice of dirt- seriously, if an assistant had spoken to me like this, i would have promptly reported them, and i have made very few complaints in years.
unfortunatly now, my dad's phone is on its way to mprc (their repair centre), i dread to think when it will be back (their engineers make things worse rather than better), and if a repair falls outside nokia warranty, i have to pay £17-odd to have it returned.
they were the worst for service years ago (and i mean about 5 years ago) but it seems nothing has improved

With this and insane motorists, you've not been having a good week, Andy..."Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

and its only tuesday now
i wasn't going to recount that i went to have my car washed and the place has shut down, or that i have college tomorrow, which in itself warrants a few of these :eek:things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

I have recently had a problem with fones 4 u also were a phone broke down. took it back and they said they would send it away for repair. Was unwilling to accept this as they would not give me a temporary phone whilst it was away and I was paying a contract. ANyway after arguing my point and gettin nowhere. I went to TS who explained that if within the first 6 months the item breaks down you do not have to accept a repair and that you are entitled to a new replacement.
Please bear this in mind and don't let them away with it. I did eventually get a new phone without having to wait for a repair.
Just started comping again, wish me luck!!!

thing with a screen is it is normally because it had been dropped or crushed, very very rarely does a mobile phone screen just stop working. maybe this is why they became funny about it, after all if it has been dropped or crushed it is hardly their fault.what is the plural of moose?

I know how you feel - I bought an Erricson from them before xmas. charged fine the first time and then the second time it was dead as a door nail!
Was outside the 14 days by this point but after some time explaining that I couldnt ring the call centre for help over xmas (because they were shut!) it seemed that it was not in fact, my fault.
They arranged a courier exchange from my house for the monday (and didnt turn up) when I called them I was told it was a computer fault at the weekend and no exchanges were taking place! they could have called me .... I ranted for a while but short of going around to cauldwell towers what can you do?
I now have a working phone but for how long I have no idea.
Gem
PS if anyone would like the office addresses of any of the Cauldwell / phones 4u / MPRC / etc offices so they can complain in person then PM me .... (oh I love to see the panic on their faces when they have to deal with a customer in person)0
