rip off Currys

After researching LCD TV's I decided to get a 42" from currys, on the 1st December it was listed as £557.84 (Not listed as a special offer or sale).
After the reduced VAT rate, I thought I would check to see if the price has dropped and was amazed to see that the price is now listed as £649!!!
What a huge rise in 8 days, How on earth can they do this when everyone is dropping prices due to VAT cuts and recession.
Festive greed/rip off I think.

I usually find Currys stuff is cheaper on Dixons0

i am presuming with your description the tv you are after is a LG 42lg5010, as that is the only 42" showing on currys website at £649, if it is, then with codes you can get this tv for £548 from empire direct, or £569 from dixons, i cannot post the codes in here, but here is a link to a website that tells you the codes neccesary, HTH DaveTake every day as it comes!!0

or at £599 .... £50 off :rolleyes:0 -
In the same way that Asda can sell a certain shampoo at £1.98 for the last month - but a 'special' offer is coming in this week - 2 for £5.00 which means the shelf price will go up to about £2.75 each. They've done it to pasta recently too.
Where's Martin when you need him? :money:0 -
They are all at it. I have seen prices increased across the board esp on electricals at many retailers. Tesco had a certain TV at £699 a few weeks back. Saw it at £849 yesterday with a big 15% Vat sign next to it.
Don't forget the pound is weakening as well.0 -

Have you tried Pixmania - part of the Currys/Dixons group but much cheaper.
